The Tomb Of Hercules Andy Mcdermott Epub카테고리 없음 2020. 3. 1. 10:01
Andy McDermott was born July 2, 1974 in Halifax, West Yorkshire, England. He is the international best-selling author of the Nina Wilde/Eddie Chase action/thriller series that started in 2007 with the book “The Hunt for Atlantis” and it’s follow up, The Tomb of Hercules that came out in 2008. His adventure series about Nina Wilde and Eddie Chase are published in twenty different languages in thirty countries. From his twitter page I gather that he’s a fan of Star Trek, and Mac computers, and his all-time favorite movie is Aliens. He wrote most of his website updates on an antique Mac laptop. And he wrote his first 7 Wilde/Chase novels and 8 novels that never got published on a sofa that he just this year got rid of. Besides this information, there isn’t much about the author, who seems to be quite popular.
Somehow, he’s managed to keep his personal life, for the most part, silent.Besides writing about the archaeologist and former body guard, he writes short stories about celebrity sleuth Leviticus Gold, which are ebook exclusives. He also wrote a stand alone novel released as The Persona Protocol in the United Kingdom and The Shadow Protocol in the United States and Canada. Before being an author he worked as a journalist and editor for DVD Review and Hotdog Magazine, with both magazines, he wrote movie reviews and got to show off his large knowledge of movie trivia. Working too as a graphic designer, reviewing video games, and a graphic designer. Andy contributed to the British science fiction comic book 2000 A.D, first getting published in Prog 749. Andy graduated from Keele University and now lives in Bournemouth, with his wife and son, where he writes full time. He’s also written a screenplay called Lies We Tell that is about an honest chauffeur who must deal with his dead boss’ mistress; her past forces him to stop a marriage involving her young sister and the sisters’ gangster cousin. His first book in the Nina Wilde/Eddie Chase series, and New York Times Bestseller, “The Hunt for Atlantis”, is about a woman, archaeologist Dr. Nina Wilde who’s parents died searching for “The Lost City of Atlantis”.
A decade later, she finds out how they died, and decides to continue their search where it concluded. She gets funding from philanthropist Kristian Frost aided by Kristian’s British bodyguard Eddie Chase (who is also an ex-SAS soldier) after a dangerous man named Giovanni Qobras came to her pretending to work for Frost tricks her and wants to kill her to try and stop her search. Eddie gets her on the right track to get her quest and funding going. She has a theory that she wants to prove on how to find this lost city.
On their journey they are joined by Hugo Castille; another bodyguard, Kari Frost, a beautiful heiress and the daughter of Kristian. Besides the money, Kristian is also having the two bodyguards (Hugo and Eddie) as well as his daughter, go along with Nina on her quest. They are being pursued by Brotherhood of Selasphoros led by Giovanni. There is a secret hidden in the old city that if it fell into degratehands, it would be the end of the world such as it is. It’s a good reason that Nina and Eddie are also on the hunt for the tomb. “The Hunt for Atlantis” also won the 2007 Publishers Weekly Starred Review award. The second book in the series, The Tomb of Hercules, Nina gets the chance of a lifetime, to prove that Hercules’, the legendary hero, tomb is real. If she can prove that exists, it will be the most important historical find ever found.
She’s not the only one that wants to find the tomb, and the treasure that’s within the tomb. This group of greedy people proves that they will do whatever it takes to get into the tomb. The search for Hercules’ tomb takes them all over the world, from New York, Shanghai, Switzerland, and Botswana. Eddie and Nina have to stay one step ahead of the other people who want to get their hands on the tomb and find it first.
These other people only want it for the treasure and any glory they can get from finding the tomb. A gorgeous woman from Eddie’s past joins the hunt and all the rules change, making each step they take very dangerous.Over the course of the series, the two series leads, Nina and Eddie, inevitably develop feelings and later a relationship with one another, and they end up starting a family together after getting married. His novels have been praised for their non-stop action scenes, their epic scope that spans the globe, It’s been said that he can compete with Dan Brown and James Rollins, two giants in the action/ thriller genre, and he’s been called a new master of this genre. His work has drawn comparisons to fiction writing authors Clive Cussler and Matthew Rilley too. It’s been said that while a lot of author’s write action scenes that crawl by, but his on the other hand, it is as though they are displayed in high definition and they explode off the page. His dialogue crackles. These books have also drawn criticism for their lack of a story and an over reliance on a lot of action sequences throughout the book (especially in the second book), being separated by a few pages of other things that happen.
His dialogue has been described as being written by a teenager, and the sense of humor was very sophomoric and weak, especially from Eddie. One reviewer thought that Nina wasn’t very interesting and they didn’t care about her that much, and Eddie, they said, was a diamond in the rough. The bad news about that is, he was not enough diamond and there was too much rough. Making the secondary characters much more interesting. Some of the people who enjoyed the first novel, were disappointed by the second book being a lot of action with almost none of the story that the first one had. » » Andy McDermott.

Ninety Percent of Everything by Rose George SummaryEye-opening and compelling, the overlooked world of freight shipping, revealed as the foundation of our civilization On ship-tracking websites, the waters are black with dots.
Each dot is a ship; each ship is laden with boxes; each box is laden with goods. In postindustrial economies, we no longer produce but buy. We buy, so we must ship. Without shipping there would be no clothes, food, paper, or fuel. Without all those dots, the world would not work. Freight shipping has been no less revolutionary than the printing press or the Internet, yet it is all but invisible. Away from public scrutiny, shipping revels in suspect practices, dubious operators, and a shady system of 'flags of convenience.'
Infesting our waters, poisoning our air, and a prime culprit of acoustic pollution, shipping is environmentally indefensible. And then there are the pirates.
Rose George, acclaimed chronicler of what we would rather ignore, sails from Rotterdam to Suez to Singapore on ships the length of football fields and the height of Niagara Falls; she patrols the Indian Ocean with an anti-piracy task force; she joins seafaring chaplains, and investigates the harm that ships inflict on endangered whales. Sharply informative and entertaining, Ninety Percent of Everything reveals the workings and perils of an unseen world that holds the key to our economy, our environment, and our very civilization.
